Step by step, be safe and have fun!

Let's make some beautiful butterflies together.

                  1          2         3

First we have to make the cupcake batter.  Pound cake works the best.

Make sure you wash your hands first and check with an adult to make sure they can be your assistant!

After we make the batter we have to pour it into the greased cupcake pan. Make sure not to over fill the cups. About 3/4 of the way is best. Your assistant will tell you when you have enough in there.  If you fill it too full the wings don't fly right.  Also, don't forget to taste the batter and make sure it's great!

After you finish pouring the batter in the cups, make sure you wipe off all the excess drippings.

Bake the cupcakes using the directions on the batter box, and let them cool on a rack.

Now comes the fun part.  Have your assistant carefully cut off the top of the cake, then cut it in half.

Then, when you spin the halves around, they turn into the wings!

Using the supplies you see here:  Melted chocolate in a piping bag, different colors of icing, sprinkles and Twizzlers for the antennae, start creating your flutterbys!

The finished product can look like anything, but if you have a good time and stay safe while you bake, you have been successful in the kids kitchen!  Can't wait to see pictures of the flutterbys you make!  Send them to me here okay!

Ciao for now,    Luv, Liv
